Where the blue color of chefchaouen city come from?

Chefchaouen the blue perle

Chefchaouen, the blue city of Morocco, it's like a blue sea hidden at the foot of the Rif Mountains. The city was founded in 1471, when Chefchaouen was a Moorish fortress. Over time, the city welcomed people of Jewish and Christian faiths who lived alongside the native Berbers. By
crossing this oasis, it was quickly thought that the people who live here have a certain sense of aesthetics. However, if these houses are painted blue, it is mainly for a religious reason. For the Jews, the blue color indeed recalls the power of God, a belief still very present here. Another reason would be that blue will repel mosquitoes. The blue of the buildings

is punctuated by the numerous stalls where various colored objects are spread, fabrics, carpets and lampshades.let yourself get lost in the labyrinth formed by the  streets of the city.
